KANYE'S BIGGEST COMPETITION

Recently Kanye said to the XXL magazine that Justin Timberlake is his biggest competition. This I really can not understand. C'mon Kanye is a dope rapper with a great lyrical ability to rip any show and track he wants. Not only that Kanye is also known for dope producing.

What does Justin Timberlake got to do with rap music or hip hop community. He might sing on beats of Timbaland, but in my eays that does not give him any credibility from the hip hop community. I think Kanye should consider focusing on the hip hop heads, he might got some mainstream success, that does not make him a mainstream artist.

I wish that Kanye more success than Justin, because this means that hip hop music is getting attention from a broader audience. I think Timbaland and Justin is really serving a audience who have a average taste when it comes to flavour of music.

I recently read a blog post about commercialism in hip hop. The author of the blog was writing that commerce can not hurt the art.

I got to agree with him, because rap music is getting more terrain in the field of music. In USA it is a huge music genre. So rappers can promote a product just well as actors. The best example is Sprite. I think because rap music is getting global attention. Not only corporate world can profit from it.This way the rappers are getting more attention too.

I think so long the rappers remains original. They can profit from promoting products in commercials or whatever. I think so long it is socially responsible there is nothing wrong with commerce and hip hop.

N.W.A stands for N@#$%Z with Attitude, this gangsta rap group is from Compton, L.A.
They got together in 1986 and split up in 1991. The group is known for their explicit nature of their raps. They were banned from mainstream radio stations and the government prevented N.W.A from touring.

This does not mean anything, because N.W.A is the most influential gangsta rap group ever. They sold 9 million units in the U.S alone. The hip hop fans embraced them well. They were the voice of the angry urban kids. This way N.W.A showed the world how you can fight tNhe system with rhymes.

As N.W.A gave birth to the gangsta rap era, they were listed by Rolling Stone on the eighty-third place out of 100, as 'the greatest artists ever' all the members are legendary within the hip hop community. N.W.A existed out of Ice Cube, Dr.Dre, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella.

At that time when I first heard of N.W.A I was really crazy about their music. Me and my friends would dress like N.W.A. I even had jerry curls for a while. I can understand that some rappers are really influenced by them. The revolutionary way of thinking is all N.W.A. Ice Cube left the group for a solo career. It was a great time for me. I have some great memories of the summer nights when we pumped N.W.A out of a boom box on a school yard.

There are enough rappers who got skills, but they can not shine, because they can not get much exposure as US rappers.

There are lots of rappers from USA who are nice, but I think the most influential and nicest rappers are coming from New York. I prefer the New York sound, because they are so deep rooted in the hip hop culture. This is because, hip hop was born in New York. Recently Bronx, New York got claimed as the officially birth place of hip hop.

I think New York will continue to represent the hip hop culture as it supposed to be.
The graffiti art is so visible in New York. The most famous breakers are coming from New York. The best DJs are from New York. This is my personal opinion.

I am so excited about the web design course I am going to take. I find some good qualities of my self the last couple of months. One of them is that I am so hungry for knowledge. I explore my horizon at this moment mostly online.

MY FIRST RAP TAPE

The first rap tape I ever listend is a tape of Ice-T. That way I got hooked to hip hop music. After getting in touch with Ice-t's music. I got to know music of Public Enemy. Then came Ice Cube with solo stuff after splitting up with N.W.A. There was a enormous hype going on around rap music. Till today you can hear the influence they bought to the hip hop scene.

I never restricted my self to only listening to gangsts rap. I soon got in touch music of A Tribe Called Quest. This way I got to know various streams of rap music.
The Native Toungue Movement was promoting more social awareness and mostly they were rapping about having fun.

How ever gangsta rap got more commercial and got the global recognition. Even rap music is so famous, some people think that hip hop is about guns, money and drugs.
There is only a minority of hip hop fans who listen to rap music in its authenic form.

NAS

Nas is one of my favourite artist of all time. First I heard of him in 1994 when he came out with his debut album. I was experiencing a whole new level of rapping. He instantly took the art of MCing very serious. I was impressed by his skills.

The beats were tightly produced. DJ Premier was mostly responsible for the beats.
After Nas dropped Illmatic I was really curious how his next album will be. when his second album came out I was convinced this man is going to be a huge in the hip hop scene and even beyond. The second album had some great songs with guest rappers such as Cormega, Prodigy and many more.

At the time Nas dropped his third album you could hear that grew with his fans. He knew how to appeal to the hip hop community. Most hip hop fans recognized that this rapper is going to be a legend. His lyrics were packed with revolutionary ideas how rappers should stand on his own 2 feet instead of selling out. His following albums were all classics. If any one who has not 'Illmatic' album in his collection should go get it, because this is the greatest album which Nas dropped.

GOD BLESS INNOVATIVE MINDS

I can not agree with my parents about the new ideas I got. I am thinking to study and work parttime. My parents think it is better for me to not try to lift too much weight, because they think studying and working parttime can expose me to too much stress. I can not argee with this I think a higher education do not need to be that heavy. When you work systematicly and plan your assignments well this can be pretty easy for a motivated ambitious hip hop head just like me, because I stand for knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

I am constantly looking for new challenges, this means that I get to find out about new things. I innovate this way my capabilaties and my restrictions. I blame my parents for not being open mined about new challenges, I have this feeling they are trying to protect me from the risks I am taking. At this moment I have a job with a 1 year contract, they think that provides me secure financial state.

So, I made my opinion clear by using Edison as a example, who innovated the light bulb, if this man would have thought we got candle light to provide us light at night then...... you figure the rest. I not saying that I am going to find out the next best thing. I am going to explore the horizon. I know God will guide me on this journey.

I am speaking out of experience. I had the biggest dreams becoming a professional rapper. I was practicing hard with my crew. We lacked the vision. There were many factors that we could not manage. First of all we were so into the hip hop scene we all forgot about the real world where ordinary people worked and lived.

I could not manage my studies. I thought at that time a education is not important.
I think some rappers can not propel, because they are focused on one thing. That is rapping, you should not forget to focus on providing for your self.

You might be a very talented rapper if you can not manage to provide for your self
are going to end up being broke, that is not the situation you want to be in. You got to focus on two things that is making sure you got a source of income then you can focus on getting a record deal. Then you can not fail.

MY NEW CHALLENGE

For many years I have been a lost sheep. That is how it was. Actually since 2005 I am found, since then I came back home to live with my parents. I have been living on the streets and getting into trouble and actually wasting my time. Now I realize that I did not have any sense of reality. Back in the days I was so sure of my self that I am going to be a rapper. I was rapping.
That was nothing promising, because I lacked the right mindset to get the things done.

Now I realize you are not getting anywhere without a right education. I am more mature that I want to work and study. This is my new challenge. This time I would not dissapoint my self.
I am going to get a degree and a good job. I love working, I am glad that I got a job now.
I got a lot of things on my mind, the plans are great. I have been checking out for job oppertunities. There are high paying jobs in the field I want to study.
